GENERAL
FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH AND SIT TO STAND FUNCTION
Grip Strength--Hand Held Dynomometry
Impaired grip strength is an indicator of increased postoperative complications, increased length of hospitalization, higher rehospitalization rate, decreased physical status, loss of independence, increased risk of functional limitations and disability, and all-cause mortality, comparable to quad strength, etc.

Supine Hip Extension Test
The Supine Hip Extension Test is a reliable and valid method with which to assess and isolate hip extension strength when prone hip extension test is not possible. The large, misleading arc of lumbar spine extension in prone is avoided with the supine hip extensor test.
Heel Rise (standing)
Assess endurance, strength, fatigue, function and performance of gastrocnemius that affects functional gait and balance. Plantar flexors function to control gait by slowing down the forward motion of the tibia over the foot during stance phase, and propel the body forward during push-off. Test is single foot heel rise at defined intervals of 1 rise per second.
Single Step Test
The SST is a reliable, valid and responsive test assessing unilateral lower extremity impairments and limitations. Can assess change in LE power over time for any condition.
Timed Stair Climb
Stair climb power (4-10+ steps) is an important clinical measure of lower-extremity power, has excellent test-retest reliability, explains a greater amount of variance in the SPPB than other leg power measurements, and describes equivalent amounts of variance in Habitual Gait Speed.
