11 Self rated items measuring physical function, activities, and symptoms involving single or multiple disorders of the upper extremities.  Assessment includes ADLs, pain, and N/T.

Grip Strength--Hand Held Dynomometry

Impaired grip strength is an indicator of increased postoperative complications, increased length of hospitalization, higher rehospitalization rate, decreased physical status,  loss of independence, increased risk of functional limitations and disability, and all-cause mortality, comparable to quad strength, etc.

Moburg PickUp Test

Subject picks up 12 chips and places in bin as fast as possible.  Conditions include dominant and non-dominant hand and with eyes open and closed.  Tests ability to perceive constant touch (to locate) – Precision grip (to pick up) – Cutaneous feedback (to grip).

Jebsen Hand Function

Evaluation of 7 fine and gross motor hand functions using simulated activities of daily living, such as writing, eating, manipulating and moving common objects, etc.  Can be compared to norms and used for interventions.
